ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE
RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS Release
Date: December 14, 2006 National Cancer Institute Division of Cancer Biology Requests for APRC supplemental
support are due by March 15, 2007. The Division of
Cancer Biology (DCB) of the National Cancer Institute announces for
fiscal year 2007 the opportunity to seek supplemental funding for active
DCB-funded research projects to support and encourage new multidisciplinary
scientific collaborations among DCB grantees, as well as with other members of
the scientific community. This initiative known as the Activities to Promote Research
Collaborations (APRC) supports collaborative interdisciplinary
activities in cancer research that bring together novel ideas and approaches
from disparate scientific disciplines including those not currently supported by
DCB. These collaborations could allow the participants to move into new
and important areas of cancer research, combine expertise from other fields and
thereby have the potential to expand the pool of talented scientists working in
cancer biology, or bring a novel approach to an important area of cancer
biology. It is essential, however, that proposed APRC activities be within
the overall scope of the active parent award and that the collaborative activity
is new. The FY07 Guidelines and Information for Applicants are
attached and can also be found at the following web site: http://dcb.nci.nih.gov/APRC2007.cfm. Please
note eligibility requirements. There is a single receipt date of March 15,
2007. Important:
The APRC Program is anticipated to be highly competitive with limited
funding; only 5-10 supplements will be awarded. DCB-funded investigators
who are interested must first contact their DCB Program Director to
discuss the planned collaboration before submitting an
application. |
